My 2nd character to the throne room. this time with the stealth approach.
i put almost all of my initial skill points into stealth and just started diving...

had a few close calls but on the whole things went quite smoothly. the hardest part was forcing myself to leave everyone alone :)
i guess i almost never fought until 600' or so. then i buffed up melee (+assassination skills) and started one-hit-killing whatever i could.
i hit 950' when minimum depth was 350' or so, but there i spent a lot of time, as i was scared to relive my last throne room experience -death...

now when i finally decided to go down, i didn't have big problems down there, even when i started kicking morgoth it was pretty easy to get away...

but now i'm sitting there with morgoth's crown on my lap, trying to stick my knife into it... which simply doesn't work. i tried all my weapons, i drank potions of strength and ate herbs of rage, but nothing happens...
does anyone have an idea what else i could try? thanks!!

If you have the combat rolls window open, you can see exactly what's happening here. You get a normal attack (with criticals), against evasion [-5] (I think; it might be [+0]), and protection 20d4. You should be able to get a Silmaril out with a lucky roll. While the potion of Strength is in effect, the mattock might be good; without it perhaps Delmereth?

In general a sharp weapon or Song of Sharpness can make this a lot easier, but it's definitely very doable with your current kit and a lucky roll.

Hope this works out okay for you!

ah... oh well, that was stupid...
finally did it with delmereth. tried to take another one but delmereth broke. so i decided that for the first win, one silmaril is just fine.
the way up was pretty uneventful and charcaroth proved only a minor nuisance. not that i have a problem with this :)
thanks for the help!

Why are you wearing that filthy rag artifact when you already have the two abilities it gives?
I'll have to try this extreme stealth approach at some point..

uh, if i remember correctly, i was pretty close to the border of getting a stealth penalty because of weight - actually i still don't know where exactly this point is: i always thought 15lbs but it seems like this isn't entirely correct... is it also strength-dependent or something?

in any case, as i wasn't planning on getting hit anyway, i decided that the one stealth point is more interesting to me than the 2d5 armor rating... probably objectively that was pretty stupid but in the end i simply got a bit too much addicted to these little !!!!!!!!!!!'s

Congratulations!

Stealth penalty is for every full 10lbs. You're probably thinking of heavy armour use, which gives you a bonus to protection for every 15lbs.
