Had to take curse breaking when I was wearing an amulet of -1 con and gloves of -1 dex with no staves in sight, which was a shame.

Has been going ok since, though: I've got a nice set of armour items at this stage, though a few more specials would be nice. Rings of protection would also be nifty. I seem to be fairly easily cleaving my way through at the moment, though I rather wonder if I'm soon going to meet my end at the hands of a shadow.

Whew, thought I was a goner there.

Fell down to 550ft. Found myself fighting foes I could not see (Sulraukar and Shadows), figured I'd look for some stairs once I'd killed the Sulraukar, as I felt I stood little chance with shadows. Bumped into Gilim, which was rather not nice, tried going toe-to-toe with him, but with the shadows and another giant around, it looked bad. Not knowing where any stairs were, I fled blindly, eventually running into a group of werewolves at the end of a corridor, with Gilim still hot on my heels. Some nether worm masses with the wolves opened up the area I was in to let my foes just surround me that bit further. It looked pretty grim.

Eating a herb of rage, Turgon burst upon his foes, cutting them down and routing them as he slew Gilim.

However, I burned up most of my potions in the process, so am now feeling rather more fragile.

Alas, burning up potions Turgon fell to an emerald serpent's breath as he tried to run away.

Oh well, I think Turgon was, on the whole, fairly unlucky - never getting anything particularly good, and frequently being forced into unpleasant situations. Maybe next time I'll be able to do a little better.

Another attempt at this, this time with an evasion character.

I got my con drained (I forget what by) at ~300ft, and I've not found any potions of con since, so I'm hoping that things will get easier when I do...

The deathblade and Ogbar make for nice weapons, and I'm pretty happy boasting a fairly high protection score at the moment, though perhaps if I find some rings of evasion or dex I'll move towards higher evasion.

Oops.

Found a down shaft at 700ft, thought I'd take it for the experience, seemed to be doing ok. Was heading for some food (as I needed a bit), and fell through a false floor. Didn't find a way up from 850ft and encountered a young fire drake, whereupon I foolishly didn't put my dwarf mark on immediately, and died as a result.
