Been a couple weeks since I played with enough of both luck and concentration to stand a chance... Started this one going for versatile medium combat smith, going pretty well so far. 4 forges at various depths, fairly well used, but no artifacts made yet, and quite an interesting sword collection. Glend looks great for a straight up heavy combatant, Orcrist would be ideal for a parry/riposter, that deathblade looks great for going for critical hits, although my gear is not particularly suited for stealth...

Took a bit of acid damage from a creeping horror that I probably should have avoided, but other than that, this one is looking pretty good.

Thinking on it a bit more, Orcrist and the deathblade plus song of sharpness might work well for florentine and rapid attack... Do those stack? Would it give 3 attacks per turn, or 4? Would I be at -6 for both weapons, or only the off-hand one?

I guess the next forge will go towards replacing/upgrading your acid-damaged equipment.

Rapid attack only applies (bonus and penalties) to your main weapon -- so with both abilities you'd get three attacks per turn at a uniform -3 to Str and Dex.

That is a great Deathblade there: the bonus to melee is randomised, and your one managed to flip 4 heads in a row to get to +4...

Latest forge was an enchanted 3-charger, so some artefact gloves it is. Keeping the damaged helm as a swap, but I'm going with the crown of grace for the moment. It is indeed a very nice sword. Went with rapid attack, but laying off 2 sticking it until I find/make more resistance gear. Rapid attack with the deathblade for squishies, or Glend for crunchies is working quite nicely indeed, although I'm debating ditching Glend now that I found Hurin. _Treasures is very very nice for finding good loot quickly, though I still really want to find a _Revelation for more forges.

The RNG giveth, and the RNG taketh away. I thought 23 health was enough to not need healing quite yet. I'd just one hit killed 4 big red Rs a row, and not taken too much in the way of damage in return. Looking at the monster memory, 4d10, even with rFire and decent armour, was too much for that to be worth the risk. Probably should have gone with the dwarf mask plan with that last forge, for double rFire, or just done a bit more shooting and a bit less melee.

Ururaukar are pretty easy to kill but do hit very hard.

It's actually the case that resistances don't stack against melee attacks. This is a bit of an anomaly, arising because it's based a completely different mechanic from resistance to breath weapons. It's possible that we'll try to move them closer together at some point, but for symmetry the rules for monster elemental melee attacks should be the same as brands on player weapons.

Ah, so it was straight-up 4d10 damage that would have been 5d10 had I not had fire resist. Makes a bit of a difference in survivability, that... TIL, glass cannon vs. glass cannon is not a good game to play if you are one of the cannons.
