Ok. This was very annoying (as usual). Another very promising assassin as I had got to 950' very quickly. Saw the S heading straight for me, so had to attack rather than let it run into me and notice me. It was down to its last star so I took a chance at hitting it rather than healing and died with it fleeing! I now seem to remember someone saying certain creatures had an aura - I guess this was one. It didn't say that in the monster description though?!

Do Gondolin swords hurt serpents by the way? It was glowing so I took the chance of swapping. In hindsight the extra move might have saved me...

What do you see when something is glowing? I have not yet figured this out, but am probably just clueless..

Ewan -- if you have the inventory and equipment list windows open, the weapon symbol will be cyan-colored instead of its normal color if it is glowing.

Also, your light radius will increase by one, although I'm not sure that happens if the glowing weapon is in your pack -- perhaps you have to be wielding it.

Gondolin weapons only slay dragons and raukar as mentioned in the dump, so it wouldn't slay serpents. The 'aura' is indeed mentioned in the description (e.g. It is surrounded by poisonous vapors), but this message could stand to be more clear. Ultimately it does 2d4 points of damage from the element per round to you if you are adjacent, and maybe to monsters too (I'm not sure). The radius should be 1 though, so it is a bit odd that you died. Maybe it did the damage at the start of its turn then moved or something.

So frost covers it - no mention of anything surrounding it. With all the stats that are given on health, protection and attack I would have assumed that the 2d4 bit would have been listed there too. Does cold resistance half the aura btw?

There is also a second line somewhere about the 'aura' but maybe you need to have met more to see the line or something. I'll look into it. Yes, resistance halves it to 1d4. It is mainly a flavour thing, and is one of the things Sil inherits from NPP.

It doesn't currently affect other monsters, and I'm trialling a version where it does -- they seems to get killed a bit easily though.
