So I gave up on the stealth model and am going on the hardcore warrior model here. Although I am using stealth to keep out of fights at least when I get into fights I can handle them....

Good going. If you don't want to use a shield, you may find that Subtlety goes very well with that weapon.

Thanks for the tip! I'd use a shield but what I do is switch out the great sword when I get into fights : ) So basically I'm using Amrod for the stealth bonuses. I also have The Spear of Boldog for Warg killing...which I KNOW that I'll need at some point.

I just made a narrow escape...I used up almost all of my potions and I found the value of sprinting. I was surrounded by giants, serpents(lucky for me I had a cloak of warmth) and Wargs. I managed to make it to a corridor, however I was surrounded by some easterling warriors and a snow troll decided to join the party. I honestly felt like the whole damn level was coming to join the party. So I somehow managed to make a run to the stairs...I actually ran over an orc archer on my way...which was fun.
Hopeful I can find some more herbs of rage soon. Those things are life savers.

Oh I also used up my staff of Majesty and used my trumpet of terror...it was a costly escape!

If I knew how good sprinting was for getting out of tight spots I would have gotten it long before now. I lead a Gand an R on a long merry chase and I finally escaped them to only run afoul of two orc parties. But I was near the stairs so I escaped them too : )

Hmm, well I got caught by Ulfang and a Shadow...I made a run for it but got backed into a room with no doors and the only exit blocked by easternling archers..still it was a good run and I think I have learned what skills to invest in...

Sprinting is indeed incredibly helpful because running away is so good (likewise without sprinting I will sometimes use a potion of quickness to run away rather than to fight).

Painful death here; where possible I try to position my fights so that I can run back into known territory, but sometimes enemies come down the stairs behind you and you need to run blind.

I got spotted by Ulfang the Black whilst trying to escape a Shadow, then when I was backed into a corner some nether worms chewed into the wall to my left and so I killed it and made a run for it...too bad it was into a room. Honestly Ulfang was just too tough for me to take...even with a herb of rage and I couldn't get my trumpet of terror to work on him.
But it wasn't a stupid death here...not very many of those in Sil.
