Latest evasion-Haleth, taking Scatha's comment on light weapons and assassination into account.

I think that the plan will be to sneak throughout, and acquire enough Song to put things to sleep. Don't know whether that latter will be possible; may depend on finds, as I may need the Sharpness song anyway (although I don't know whether it'll work in any case with light weapons on the Crown - we'll see..)

OK: *now* we're rocking. This is what i was aiming for - the whole 'use a light weapon' [also known as 'RTFM!'] was at least part of the key. Now sneaking and stabbing - just had a septuple critical on an unfortunate mountain troll! Really hope that I find a nice light weapon at some stage. [Is 'Sting' not in the game?]

Still rocking. Criticals all the time, really fun watching opponents writhe in pain :)).

Fragile, though. When I *do* get hit it is scary.

And buying out the Stealth tree is going to cost a huge number of xp.

Nonetheless, very very fun.

I don't know whether I would be getting even more criticals with a lighter weapon; maybe, butI like the increased light from Narsil, it fits my sense of heroism, and the resistances are nice also..

Another one bites the dust.

Greater werewolves really tricky for this build; should have just run. And once again with the xp bank.

Still, one of the most fun games yet; the next char will be exactly the same plan.

You're pretty good at this! I suppose this can be regarded as a hybrid which is slightly more combat-oriented than my similar attempts -- I tried to stop increasing my evasion after 7 (for sprinting) and later on fall back on all my abilities to avoid ever engaging in open combat. Not sure whether that was the best approach ... Anyhow I'm glad you're enjoying it so much.

I think Narsil would have worked reasonably well as a weapon for you (the deathblade or Dagmor great too; I don't know which of this came first); it will get a few less criticals than a lighter weapon and the damage dice are one smaller, but against that you have an extra damage die and all the incidental stuff. It might have been that you'd have been best switching to something else for stabbing sleeping foes and then Narsil for combat.

The death screenshot here has a lot of enemies in! I don't know when the last point was where you could have run, but particularly with the Edain just turning tail now and again is a wise move.

By the way 'Sting' isn't in the game as such, as we don't have a first age name for it. But the weapons of orc slaying are modelled after it, so I would imagine that in the the world of Sil, the weapon Bilbo named Sting was a shortsword of Orc Slaying.

Sting might even a Dagger of Orc Slaying, functioning like a short sword in the hands of a Hobbit.

Regarding light weapons, you had quite a good selection there, and can also forge your own (you can make them lighter than any you can find). I'm glad you had fun with cruel blow.

As to cutting a Silmaril, I think light weapon users can often get one with a Deathblade, even without any sharpness.

Of course it is pretty hard for light weapons users to actually get a Deathblade no matter how much they want one -- good work there.
