For the early game, for the easiest kind of character to play, melee and evasion and by some way the most important skills; consequently Dex is also pretty good. I'd recommend a set-up built around these as a way of learning a bit more about the game, and then you can try the more esoteric builds in later games (it doesn't normally take very long to die).
