Just managed to run from a darting horror - how are you supposed to face things that fast?!

I'm also out of food...

Oh man, get thee to a refrigerator! I usually come across a fair number of herbs that get my tummy going. But I rarely find lembas or bread. I usually keep random bad herbs if I had the space just for food concerns. I usually don't want to grab mind-over-body but my last character had to bite the bullet when he wind out without any food at all, like your guy here. It would replace your ring, or compound with it if you use both for 1/9th normal hunger rate, I believe. Food for thought!

Darting Horrors move very quickly, but they're not actually that tough, and you probably had a fair chance of killing it.

It seems like you're having a lot of fun with the artefacts you're making. I'm hoping you go to the end, if only so that we get to see what you have lined up next!

Yeah... love the artefact creation - I've probably spent too much XP there at the expense of other skills!

I'd quite like song of mastery - does it affect mindless creatures or just those with a "morale"? Also how important is poison resistance?

I'm moving to the bigger weapons now, but losing a shield makes me a little nervous in terms of protection.

Oh... do artefact light sources not run out of fuel? Can I dump my oil now?

On 29.1.2012 10:27 HugoTheGreat2011 wrote:
Artifact light sources, like the Brass Lantern ones, can run out of fuel, as far as I know. The lesser jewel or Feanorian Lamps do not. I would hold on to the flasks of oil. Alternatively, you can carry extra normal Brass Lanterns, for backup.

On 29.1.2012 15:02 half wrote:
Hmmm... I've never seen an artefact lantern before. The light source code has some old special cases which assumed artefact lights were all permanent lights, so they don't use fuel and they have a fixed radius (which might coincidentally be the same as the one you made). I've just fixed this for the next version.

Usual story... everything was just dying as I walked past it. Only spotted my HP was low as I took the fateful step. Stupid.

Are you using a low hit point warning? There is one in Sil by default. What about the default option to colour your @ by how wounded you are (this is the main health indicator I look at)?

On 29.1.2012 21:50 Psi wrote:
I've just got the defaults set. I'm not used to what I'm seeing though as I've always played tiles in the past. I don't think I got a low hitpoint warning - that last hit must have been hard. I didn't expect to die, but to be honest I didn't expect to even be attacked as most things would run as soon as I started singing...
