4,784 350 ft Slain by an Orc warrior.
   4,784 350 ft Died on 17 January 2012.

4,784 350 ft Easily the best so far - I like this strategy.
4,784 350 ft I'm going for sneaky charger - SNEAK ATTACK!

Not bad for a first run - Sneaking around and using charge to devastate (charge doubles your damage dice, nice!) - most enemies are OHKO'd, including Boldog and Gorbag. should have started singing elbereth the moment I saw that champion down the hall. oh well. a higher strength character would do VERY well like this using a mattock (12 dice - 3 strength + power would be 12 d 6 damage, and an unwary monster would still end up getting hit frequently with -5 evade + your assassination bonus.) I also really liked opportunist here - nearly everything is terrified when I charge them (if their not dead, that is.)

I WILL go further next time :)

Ouch, you got cornered. You could have invested in Sprinting, which would require 7 Evasion points, thus a lot of EXP, unfortunately. With Sprinting, you can easily get away from the Orc champion. Or, you can lure him away into an empty corridor, and then 'sprint' and 'charge' him to death. It's fun! Try it next time!

You also need more armor + evasion when facing the orc champion, if you're not fast. More armor absorbs damage. Higher Evasion would make the Orc champion miss you more often.

In the future, invest in 'Sprinting'! Believe me, it will help you a lot!

I think that I would have gone for sprinting soon - Though I like Elbereth and opportunist so much that I'm not sure I'll go that way yet. I was regularly doing 25-40 damage with my initial charge, and hitting on nearly every attempt. when I did miss, I'd retreat to a corridor where orcs wouldn't follow, and I could charge again, or I could dispatch them one at a time if they did.

Should've checked what a staff of sanctity does - I've not seen one before. Also, might go for weaponsmithing, to custom weight a sword - but it may not be worth the initial investment - you can see that I got a *nice* great sword.

Note that you don't get the Assassination bonus when charging (which makes a certain amount of sense). They still get the halved evasion if unwary or [-5] total evasion if asleep, so this is still viable, but not quite as good as it might seem.

Ah, that makes sense, yes. Well, that will save me about 1000 experience early game then, as charge was nearly 100% of my starting attacks. I'll use it to pick up another song or better smithery, methinks. two rings of accuracy +2 sounds pretty tempting @ the start of the game.
