A new completely untested release (0.0.46) is up, and I am now testing it out, time permitting.

Nimble Hobbit for stealth and dex. Ninjatos for 1d9 throwing power. Now, the problem: How to find one? I must confess, I'm not beyond scumming early on. It took 20 minutes to dig out 10k gold and another 7 for the BM to finally stock one on Day 17. Judicious use of macros sped things up considerably, and Farmer was kind enough to give me a shooter so I can power up in The Sewer, which is next. But while I still had my macros handy, I farmed the scroll shop for 5k worth of enchantments: (+8,+9) is pretty good.

So, a totally cheesy early start, but I have my weapon! Now, the only thing is, I don't dare throw it :)

I changed it to be the same as Warriors, Rangers, Paladins, Samurai, and lots more, at 7lb (for 0.0.47). Weaponsmiths have the 15lb min weight, but that class favors heavy stuff intentionally and is the only class with such a high restriction.

I fixed the bug. Throwing never allowed you to hit a monster in a wall, or on a forest. Shooting always allowed this, and I can only assume this was a bug.

Anyway, I played with throwing daggers a bit and it is useful, though very frustrating. Failure to return is a *huge* biff, and happens quite a bit more than you would expect. For a ninjato-master, it is virtually impossible to get an adequate supply of weapons, even with resorting to town scumming (17 days on average to get one). So, probably, you should master in daggers if you want to go this route. Or pick a character with better melee than a nimble hobbit and focus less on throwing, more on dual wielding.

The Ultimate Dungeon Cleaner was especially brutal, as it will squish the objects that fail to hit. I managed to kill it, despite about 8 failed return tosses, and me down to 5hp once, and 20-40hp a couple of times. Lots of weaponless teleportation on my part, combined with walking around to re-engage from a direction that would not induce breakage. Luring, phasing, sprinting to pick up my weapons. It was harsh! A dagger master could just have 20 or so daggers on them, all minimally enchanted, though the damage would not be so good. (Daggers with +5 damage and 4 attacks would only toss for 40hp each.)
