I don't have any good suggestions for your equipment. You might want to try the gondolin, Ciriel, and the speed boots, but it will come with a loss of meele damage, regen and whatever I overlooked. It gives ESP and speed though, both very important at your depth. This also depends on how you are doing your killing, and what. If that broad sword enables you to kill wyrms then it likely has to stay :)

You should probably try to make room in your home (raals, !rll, *remove*, damage ring) and collect as many randarts as you can. At one point it will come together.

It's a really nice acid ring for sure, but you're never going to use it again, so I'd sell it.
Why not carry all of your speed staves at once? What are you saving them for? Even if you don't plan on meleeing Morgoth, you can get potions of speed pretty easily by scumming dl 1 and using detect objects/enchantments/enlightenment.

You could probably kill Sauron now with those arrows of acid.

I'd get rid of the first two magic books in your home, they're pretty common in the magic store.

Look for shields of preservation, so you can switch for your boots of speed without losing sustains.

I'd drop the art bow into your home (or sell it), drop the 0,0 arrows, drop the cloak and boots of speed in your home (or wield the BoS and drop the other boots, and just don't melee things that drain con/dex, probably worth it too).
I don't know if you need the *destruction* staves.

What do your artifacts activate for? The dump doesn't say.

Finally found some rings of speed and tensers! and actually managed to find a potion of dex, 3 ints and an augmentation from a troll pit on one level. I actually found kelek twice (useless) before tensers in this game.

With tenser's I can swap in the gondolin and primarily be an archer. I'm getting close to a level I feel I can take sauron at. although I'm low on consumables.

Also, I think Huan can insta-kill me without rshards. So I'll need to be careful around him. He's killed a character before...

Oh and staff of destruction is the most useful item in the game, and way overpowered. It's the only way to get unique monsters off the level that you don't want to touch yet. Drop amidst a bunch of time hounds, but want to see what the superb feeling is about? no problem. Vecna around with his cohort in the next room? Gone. See the palantir in a vault surrounded by meanies you can't face? Destruction, everything goes but the artifact. (I have slight moral qualms about this last one...)

Destruction and WoD should really be nerfed, but until they are, I'm going to take full advantage of them.

(I've used destruction only 3 times so far this game)

(Looking at your post on AAR forum) If you're meleeing Morgoth, you need more healing, *healing*, and life potions. you can't rely on your staves, because he can drain their charges. You can't just drop it on the floor and heal off the floor (well you can but:) because if he hits you to create an earthquake, if the ceiling collapses on you it'll destroy your staves (it definitely will if you "nimbly dodge it", not sure if you don't dodge it). You're better equipped for arrowing him to death, if you can find some holy might arrows. Keep an eye out for a better bow/sling too, incase you find holy might shots instead (and that bow isn't all that great anyway, imo). The xbow is nice though. Actually, I'm not sure why you carry that bow at all at this point, looks like you have better luck finding bolts than arrows, and the xbow is really nice lol.

You *can* use healing staves on Morgoth and sauron. I've done it before. What you have to do is phase out. recharge. heal. then attack some more. You need to be in a destruction zone, where the chances of winding up still in LOS are small. And you only use this when you can survive a manastorm if he hits you again after the phase.

Still, ammo would be nice, I ID all that I find, so far it's been pretty scarce.

Morgy was being annoying early on and would summon ancient dragons as soon as I saw him. There were lots of teleporting and banishing of D. I did wind up carrying the empty staves, and I used *destruction* quite a bit.

Toward the end he got lazier with his summons, and Golfimbul just wasn't cutting it for 'special opponents' Most of the damage was done through melee.

All in all, I used all my *healing* about 6 healing. 3 life, 4 scrolls of mass banishment, and about 20 ccw.

Thanks everyone for the advice. My first win in under 1M turns, and my first win with disconnected stairs.

The last one was the most dangerous, as all the other ones had immediate planned escapes, or in the case of Morgoth, !*healing*.

The most dangerous moment came halfway through the game. When trying on equipment I somehow managed to leave my ball and chain of gondolin on the ground by a lesser vault. It was my source of ESP and my only source of see invis. I had wandered away and cast recall, and get 'it touches you' I was thinking? huh? how can *it* touch me? I have ESP and can see invis. When I realized what happened, I dinvis and saw I was near a graveyard! The it was an archlich, who just happened to drain my staff of destruction. I teleported away, took 4 failures to get rid of recall (needed that ball of chain) and it took an effort and a lot of dinvis to get back to where my chain was.

When stuff like that happens, I know it's time to stop playing for the night.
