No idea about Priest specialities except that I will want Heighten Magic later as I do with all full casters. Took Holy Light as it is a free resist and doing extra damage to evil sounded like a good thing. No idea if that was a wise move or not yet.

Not sure about Holy Light - it didn't seem to do much for my Paladin. I've taken Fury to a) make up for lack of a decent ranged attack when chasing flee-ers and b) help escape myself when out-whomped...

PS Well done on that last victory - getting close to lightspeed on those dives now...

I've found some Elvenkind armour with rPois and rShards and a Shield of Night and Day - so my first column of resists are now covered. Also found a mace of *Slay* orc - which is a nice swap for my telepathy blade at this level.

Not sure what happens if you try and put the same comp character on the ladder under a different name, but here goes...

This char had a fantastic start finding the Elvenkind boots very early, but has been living on the edge ever since - always one step from death (and probably should have been dead several times!). After finding the HA, took down Mim with a wand of Drain Life and repeated OoD. I was then gutted to lose a 2d7 Whip of the Balrog to acid hounds whilst starting on my way to Nargothrond. Moments later night fell, so I began the suicide run to Angfauglith 58 (I kind of like the place since all my thrall adventures). I haven't been so nervous playing FA in a long time! Creeping through desert after desert hoping not to disturb anything, I eventually reached my goal (which is where I still am in taking this dump).

A hobbit's sustained Dex is great as I have been able to take down Death Quasits without having to worry about being left in a mess! I haven't found too much kit here yet (though the rod of perception and Ossiriand bow are very nice!), but the stat potions have been rolling in which is really going to help when I go back for Nargothrond. Packs of Vrocks are my staple diet again and I'm hoping for a drop of a dungeon book or two before I leave this little treasure trove.

I'm starting to think about my mate Morgy now. Having not played a priest before I'm not really sure how I should plan my offensive. With any half-caster I'd be meleeing. With a necro I'd be using Orb of Death. My druid winner used melee, but he found Ringil (I think). However poor Primula has big combat penalties from being a hobbit. From what I can tell the most powerful spell I can use (assuming I can find WoG) is Strike of Mandos - however that is quite expensive at 30SP. Thoughts?

After counting missed blows and extra healing, melee will probably be worse.

In any case, you need to accumulate !Restore Mana.... (10 is probably enough, if you keep your !Heal, etc)

I just checked the source code. Orb of Draining is spell 2 book 3. I can't imagine killing Mim (or other evil midlevel uniques) without it.
