Well, this is definitely not very fast game and Throngdir's progress has even slowed down when he had found his hammer. The reason is obvious: most of his inexperienced predecessors died somewhere near the dungeon level 15, usually because of bad luck and series of very stupid mistakes, so he wants to be well prepared. Hopefully, he won't die round the next corner. :-)
