yet another yeek zerker. I'm really close to owning 50% of the zerkers here. Have a really good feeling this time. Yeah sure... Switched from Lucky to Mighty, for +4str/+2dex/+3cons. I never really noticed the white aura's effects anyway, also disabled smart cheat, the other AI option is still active. Noticed a nice decrease in the rate of summons as in 1 in 5 casters don't summon all the time any more.

After a lucky start with a +4 ROS from Hobbes on levelquest6, I rushed to the vault where I somehow survived Father Dagon, the GHMWQ, another 4 uniques and a Logrus Master...

Cleared a gvault on 2450 with 19 uniques inside and no useful artefact to reward the work. For the second time I confused klingsor with a lesser Vampire, but survived... I should really give him another picture.

I still haven't found any cloak. Could *really* use Jacky's for telepathy, hell I'd take any shadow cloak to get res dark away from the Phial.
Stumbled upon a lesser patter vault on 3950 with no Arts in, but also no protection. I decided to go in and check out the dragon boots on the floor. Good decission I guess... Those things can compete with Feanor especially in my case with res blindness...

I kept telling myself recall was the most dangerous thing and tried to keep the number small..
Recall to 4350: North: Undead pit
South: Undead pit.

To make things worse it is one of that evil themed levels without walls between the rooms. Oh and there is a river floating right through the lower pit, which happens to be the worse of the two.

Options please! Recall is started, speed is 36, res are up, 15 steps to the next stairs.... Just look at the screendump...

Quake might help, maybe if I am lucky with the stones, but it never helped me in death-critical Situations before. It is useful in blocking LOS or creating battle fields but it won't save you in the open or when surrounded.

For the positive side: No black reavers. Yet. Serveral greater Lich passing the walls ready to summon them though. I'm carrying 5 *healing*, so I should be able to eat 5*6 = 30 nether or similar attacks...

I also noticed that the stairs closest to me are down stairs to 88 so I might land directly next to the unicorn for the 88quest if I make it. Now that would be fun... Somehow excaping and then getting toasted by the unicorn

Still can't believe I made it out alive... Well onto greater tasks now. I'm back to using a ego item, but it is a good one :) I'm thinking about switching to the glaive and juwel of judgement, but I don't think it is worth the loss of 2 cons and levitation. And for the important kills, the BoC does almost the same damage

Serpent is down, no problems there. Chemist was down to three stars when he was embedded in rock. What a shame, many potions lost... I only attacked him that turn. Second encounter ended the same only faster, so I only lost no potions

Also couldn't find Bahamut until I noticed he was missing in the alive unique list. Playrec tells me I killed him during the unicorn battle. Good thing I didn't notice he was around o_0

Had a short encounter with the ring who was sitting three steps from a stair. Was embedded in rock almost instantly...

Arena: killed the power drake and now wonder how to attack the bubble. Will try needles I guess, as I am hopeless with the bow

That really looks like fun. I'd love to play entroband, but there's no OS X build.

And I know what you mean about "first" being a dubious distinction. What I really want is to be "last" winner. I remain in awe of this one, even though traps are kind of broken in ToME:

Nice Tome winner there :) I was holding the lowest Vanilla winner until December, but you know that, as you were the only one to comment on it lol

almost had him on a level where the battle was surrounded by the largest amount of Trolls I've ever seen on one screen. In the end he was embedded again. Next battle I'll risk using my regular set of weapons. Then he can only get embedded by his own rocks.

On the positive side I've killed a golden angel, a greater wyrm angel lich thingy and zombiefied serpent of chaos. All dropped nothing though.

The chemist dies. You have take revenge for Hobserk I-IV and Yeeserk I,II

I needed maybe 12-15 *heal*, but hey I had enough time collect them. Going for the Chemist using Grond is imo not the best idea, if playing Berserker. It just didn't work for me. Chemist would be easy pray for a grond wielding zerker if it wasn't for the quake effekt. In total I battled the Chemist 8 times. Once I quit before the battle when I noticed a big field of unmakers approaching, six times he was caught in rock. In the end I used the glaive of pain and a nice +2 attack acid branded randart to slay him.
Was drinking potions earlier than needed, but power drakes and the like just take a lot longer to kill than with grond, so I wanted to be ready to react if being overrun by good dragons once again.

Happily training with the needle. Haven't found a dungeon babble to test with yet. Currently skilled with them. could use Spec lol...

I have a question though. I think there is a minimal chance to hit of 5% no matter what defence the enemy has. So if I do 20 blows, the chance that all miss should be .95^20 = 35%
And if i hit once, the babble should go down right? So imo normal weapons should work better against babbles. I hope I'll find one in the dungeon as the arena is a bad place to test that :) Cold blooded and anti telepathy makes it more likely that it finds me instead

On 25.2.2006 16:48 dzhang@its.caltech.edu wrote:
No, 10000 AC means huge damage reductions. You'll usually do 0 or 1 damage, unless you get a big crit. At least it's always been that way whenever I fought the Babble in the Arena.

(I had several characters win against the Babble with normal weapons too...)

On 26.2.2006 02:52 Matthias wrote:
In a **very** short battle, the babble showed me that it is the real king of the Arena. The closest I got was two spaces between him and me. Kinda expected that anyway :)

I feel kind of empty now. It took me 3 months to beat the Berserker class, and I lost 6 characters over level45 on the way to the win. Not sure what to do now. Something that can teleport :)

Priest is all-around a good class, with pretty high survival abilities and good replayability value. A good intro combo is Life/Chaos (Life for healing, detection, Chaos for Teleport, *Destruction*).

I didn't go after the great chuwhatever but beside him, I got all the deep ones, from the regular crew I never found a dungeon babble, and the 1million goldcoins snake didn't appear. Killed one of those rare Ohmu? mold things though, and as YeeserkII killed the aformentioned snake, I have a nice monster info now...
