Here is my half hearted attempt at a Beastman Ninja. Bad mutations really piss me off, and I got -3 stealth and then a rotting disease. Fortunately, both were removed only at the expense of my ability to smell precious metals.

Nearly 2 hours in the Cloning Pits, as things went very very wrong. A Maulataur was generated next to the queen ants, not to mention Charon, the Boatman of the Styx. Over 400 fire ants were destroyed by me, and the quest required some care to complete successfully. In at CL31 and out at CL34. Not bad ;-)

Before the event. STR/DEX/CON were starred out, or nearly so. 110% life rating. CL40 with over 800hp. Dishing out 400 damage around in melee.

After event ... well you see the result ;-) I need to adjust to my reduced power. Great Ice Wyrms are barely killable. I can still do Bile Wyrms, but Hell/Venom Wyrms are out, were as before, they were very doable. Bought a !oDex and found a !oDex and !oChr. Still a long way to go!

[1] RBase. Get it from your equipment, not from spells.
[2] RPoison. Spell is OK, but not recommended.
[3] RChaos. If you can't swing this, then at least carry a Staff of Curing. Perhaps a Staff of Destruction instead.
[4] Levitation.
[5] ESP. Spell is OK, just cast it before descending stairs.
[6] Stealth. Essential.
[7] Double resistance. Very important. Whatever element you can double resist will determine what foes you can handle.
[8] Healing. For emergencies ... try not to use routinely.

And the biggest most important is
[9] Good Judgement. Know what foes you can handle, and what you cannot. As soon as you see something you can not handle, retreat to the stairs. Stairs are you life. Never recall to the Dragon's Lair, always approach it from the stairs in the Wilderness. Beware of packs of dragons. They are generated awake. If you descend the stairs to find yourself in the LoS of multiple GWoChaos, Hell Wyrms and the like, then immediately go back up stairs. You always get the first move.

Advice on Acquirement: I usually get two at the same time (ie. wait to find the Phial in the dungeon and then claim the quest and arena scrolls). But if you have access to *Destruction*, then go down into the dragons lair and destruct. That will buy you time to read your scrolls even if you don't meet anything on the checklist!
