With just 4 hours left in the weekend to play, and having lost my Chaos Warrior, I decided on the most munchkin-esque of characters possible: A Mighty Klackon Berserker, playing with the Unusual Rooms option. The result has been one of the quickest rises to power imaginable. Forget planning your characters. Forget strategy, caution, and the occasional lucky drop. Just get in there and whoop some butt! Just under 4.5 hours yields a CL39 character, with all resistances (save Blindness), with +31 base speed, and dishing out a cool 1000hp of damage a round.

This character has been very therapeutic ;-)

Is there any reason you have Night Blade on your right hand, as opposed to Ringil? I woulda thought Ringil in right would give more damage output, considering that 1) it has more blows, so there's more effect of the =oDamage, and 2) Offhand weapon gets penalized more on toDam, no?

I think what is munchkin-esque, is really the unusual rooms option, and the way I am abusing it. You see, I'm skimming the tops of the various dungeons looking for the kinds of vaults that have no traps, and those are checkerboard and bubble types with lots of excellent items as well as *way* out of depth monsters. At DL20 for example, I have seen Locke the Superman, who is a DL65 monster. You can even get Archons on DL1 of Angband! So you still have to be able to kill stuff, and if you mistakenly take on an opponent that is beyond you, then you just die. But otherwise, it is an artifact fest ... And a bit of warning, this style of play can quickly ruin the game for you (You won't want to play any other way!), so I don't really recommend it. But it sure is fun, though, I can't say this character really "counts", whatever that means ;-)

Regarding Night Blade, I generally like to lead with my Vampiric Weapon as a Berserker, since many monsters don't last thru weapon #1 before being destroyed. Leading with Vampirism ensures that you gain some hit points from trolls and the like, though its a habit from playing without unusual rooms that is probably less necessary now. I'll try the swap to see the difference.

Just found Slayer, so I'm running a bit slower than I would like at the moment. Hopefully, another Ring of Speed is just around the corner.

Since I always have to wait until returning to town to identify stuff, it becomes necessary to gain a feel for what is what, especially when you find so much that you need to leave stuff behind. I'm guessing Silver Chariot, Quickthorn, Grayswandir with possibilities for Hurin, but random arts are so common that you never know.
