A source of Resist Confusion is what you're looking for. When you have that, you can use a staff of Teleportation when blinded. Get Rods of Acid or Electric Bolts asap. Fire is no good vs demons and cold is no good vs undead.

Decided to head down to 15-1600' fairly quickly and try to find some stat potions, but it's getting a bit hairy already. I really need more STR, Con and INT, and lots of them. The real difficulties are with non-evil things - air hounds are a huge pain, as I can't kill a bunch quickly. Lucky I found the resistance armor, but the weight is hurting.
