Was going great for a long time. Found my Rapier (Defender) very early - around 500-600'. That allowed me to dive very quickly to and below 1000', and no real troubles until around 1500'. I could chew through orc and troll pits like a food processor. Had a lot of problems with combinations of fear, confusion, and blindness until I found that cap of seeing. Was pretty sure that I would ultimately be killed by fear and conf combined - can't fight, can't escape. I should have used ?Teleport Level/WoR, but that Will o' the Wisp was the first serious problem in at least 1000'. I later found that it was 350' out of depth. I had the combo of TL/WoR for just such an occasion, but for some reason just didn't think to use it. Was probably thinking I could still beat the thing, even after it cursed away 300HP. In hindsight, I may not have had a non-confused round to read a scroll anyway. I think as soon as I quaffed a !CCW to get rid of confusion, it would just confuse me again. So long, Brooze IV - far and away my best character yet.
