Always love fire immunity with weak mages, that "a" in "a Book of Magic Spells [Magic for Beginners]" helps so much with weight.

Since I didn't really care about turn counts, I always brought 6-8 copies of each book when taking downstairs and stashed them until I explored the level. I stopped doing that at ~4000' where I found the +speed weapons so I had the +20 base even with that footgear.

- Book 4 came very late, somewhere between 1800' and 2000'. I had no source of TO and just a few potions of speed which lead to a number of tough decisions (like luring out a Greater Titan on 1650' from a vault).

I did not find Kelek but found staff of magi, healing and 3 banishments so that's more than fair in my opinion :)

Two interesting items during the game:
It's really nice to find an early source of ESP - however when ID tells you what other properties the ring has... :/

My only source of SI for a long time (I could remove 3 of the curses slowly):

Found lying on the floor at 1250 feet (level 25)
It makes you slow to recover hitpoints.
It paralyses you every now and then.
It annoys monsters and makes it hard for you to hit them.
It attracts opponents and weakens the defences.
+1 intelligence.
+2 stealth.
Cannot be harmed by acid.
Sustains intelligence.
Grants the ability to see invisible things.

What I do with spellbooks:

I inscribe them, for faster reference and macro use; for example, book 1 gets @m1!d!k!v, so I cast magic missily by typing m1a (or use a keymap to that extent).

Books of the same type get picked up automatically; if I have fire immunity, I squelch all books; the ones in my inventory wont get squelched because of the inscription.
