Second character to actually reach stat gain stage. Playing very carefully since the first dwarf priest missed a few resists and died horribly to some evil breaths. I think his name gives him a charmed life. Haven't updated Angband either for fear of ruining his lucky streak.

First I run over Ringil at 1750', just lying there on the floor. Then I tell myself I need poison resist and venture to 2000', first death quasit coughs up a =, second death quasit in the next room yields Caspanion.

Trying to work up the courage to go deeper, any advice to an inexperienced player would be welcome.

I'm now kind of boggled by the choice of eq. Am I wearing the best combination, or should I ditch the ring of damage for strength?

(House is a bit messy. Holding on the weapons partially for sentimental reasons, partially waiting for a shopkeeper to change.)

Clean up your home! No need for junk like the amulet of charisma, or boots of stability. RoS +4 could go either way: +20 speed would give you an easier time dealing with uniques (and other creatures in general), but +4 isn't that significant given your +16.

Regarding diving, if I were you, I'd be hanging out around 2500' or perhaps deeper, killing Great Elemental Wyrms and other 'good item drop' monsters. I'd pray for your namesake, the Small Metal Shield of Thorin, and then dive deeper with the res. chaos granted by the shield. Don't forget the seemingly insignificant spell "Resist Fire and Cold" against heavies like AMHD's and Great Ice/Hell Wyrms--it can REALLY help out a lot.

Good job so far...keep on red alert for the RNG =)
