With the exception of a few "just-in-case" abilities (Dragon-Bane and Listen), pretty much everything I took seems to have been useful. Inner Light so you have a chance against Gwathrauko when Elbereth or Majesty are up, Clarity to free up an equipment enchantment slot, Sharpness for taking down the big guy himself, and Flaming Arrows for extra damage in a pinch (though I kept it off most of the time). It was nice being the pesky archer this time instead of being the one getting shot at.

i do not get your comment about permanent mastery post throne room. you could as well sing a few turns elbereth (then you even have guides to the next stair) and anyway not much would survive a few arrows from you.

If I were doing this again, I'd grab Elbereth much earlier.
