Got a very lucky start with an early (defender) and westernesse weapon, but a staff of speed in DQI was nice too.

Went in the Dragon Caves but it's kinda scary with only one source of detect monsters. So I'll dive in Angband for some ego weapons. BTW, Sting is very nice to get, took a risk getting it, but the staff of speed helped a lot getting it. Same with the BD quest, which gave me a !oStr !oDex !oCon and !oChr... I've had worse.

Only bad thing is finding a ring of damage +16 in DQ1, would have been nice for every other character except a death sword. ;)

But I was wondering, if you absorb a weapon with aggravation/curses, do you get those too? Might be bad if you auto-destroy a Morgul weapon and get the curses from it. It would ruin your character.

Also, but it might just be a nice challenge, the amount of AC is somewhat low for a pure fighter and you don't have many weapon with AC.

And something that feels a little bit buggy, I'm cursed. Not the equipment sword, but the '@' is. You can't uncurse it. I don't know if you just get the cursed_flag or also the cursed flavors coming with those like the slow regen, fast metabolism, ect.

@ being cursed is a display bug when the player has the TR_STR flag. You do have an instrinsic strength bonus so you deserve the TR_STR flag! I've never debugged why this happens but suspect it is a result of TR_STR actually being numerically 0 and the game applying some ugly hack that assumed flags could never be 0 ... I'll fix the display for next release.

For draining curses, don't worry about it. Only flags that I hand code an effect actually have an effect, and I only hand coded good stuff :) But, draining cursed stuff *does* have an effect on the amount of essences you gain. So, for example, Twilight will not give you 10 speed essences! (That reminds me: Stormbringer should not be cursed for this build since it is your boss reward).

For AC, you are indeed low to start. But you gain AC instrinsically and get a favorable AC boost from essences (available on Defenders, Holy Avengers and many artifacts). Early on you are vulnerable, though!

For some of the essence calculations I had to guess a formula as I don't have a good feel for just how many you will find in a normal game. So, some adjustment might be in order if the end game is too easy ...

Changes so Far:
[1] FA/SI only require 1 essence.
[2] Tengu and Death-Sword reward is Dagger of Westernesse
[3] High Resistances require 2 or even 3 essences rather than 1.
