Need to reduce my sword collection. Seriously considering dropping Orcrist first.

Tough call. You might need Orcrist to take out Troll guards in late game, though. I'd toss the Trumpet of Terror, if you're not using it.

Longsword of Hador's House vs. Greatsword of Hador's House?

I'd favor Greatsword because I'm very biased and almost always go two-handed. If you do plan to get Subtlety, then keep the Longsword of Hador's House, instead. But then, the Greatsword is good for knocking out the *critical-resistant* chumps...Keremraukar and Ancient Serpents come to mind...

I am fairly sure until this point about abilities I want. But I wonder what to take next. Wishlist: ZoC, Opportunist, Cruel Blow, Riposte, Song of Slaying, Rauko-Bane, enough will and free action items, Rapid Attack, maybe Whirlwind.

I would take Opportunist in a heart beat. Get Rapid Attack in late game once you have very high Melee accuracy. Riposte is terrific with very high Evasion.

I'm not sure how effective Cruel blow is with berserk gameplay. (I'll defer Cruel blow input to someone else who know better.)

Whirlwind is fun, but *very* risky, imo. You'll want to be able to KO all enemies in fewest hits possible.

Rauko-Bane is on most people's lists...though sometimes, I favor Serpent-Bane to dispatch the Ancient Sapphire serpents, etc.

I keep the greatsword for crit. resistant enemies. Otherwise I will go one-handed w/ subtlety and shortsword or deathblade by default. Currently I keep the slaying weapons to have a chance to do moral damage when pinned (armour is so low that I really want to have all evasion I can) and I kept the trumpet for the same reason, even if I am not using it and probably can't with my current will. In late game I hope to substitute moral damage from slay by moral damage from cruel blow.

The Trumpet of Terror (with high Will) helps against orcs. Maybe cats? Not sure...

I don't think this Trumpet will help in late game against Troll guards, vampires, and Ancient Serpents (not sure about this one...).

I asked for cruel blow effect on the forum, but no answer. I don't know how likely direction misses are say for a 10 will confused enemy - if it works it combines well with ZoC/Opportunist. (For the player higher will reduces the likelihood of confusion having any effect afaik.) But I want the moral effect most of all - all my other subtlety / flanking builds died either to entrancement or pinned down by too many enemies.

I also am somewhat inspired by your non-sharpness kill. So, I wonder whether I can do non-sharpness with a light weapon w/ song of slaying / mastery maybe.

Update. Wasted some potions on a pinned (glyphs) deathblade in a vault - but can't do it without strength I guess.

On 22.6.2013 19:39 HugoTheGreat2011 wrote:
Getting Majesty helps in lowering monster morale as well. It causes cats, vampires, and some raukar to flee away. AFAIK, Troll guards (or even Trolls in general) don't flee when they have low morale. Instead, low morale Troll (Confident -1) use Orc tactics to come after you.

On 22.6.2013 19:48 HugoTheGreat2011 wrote:
You definitely need a big dice weapon with high accuracy to take down any Deathblade. Charge helps with this.

If you want to go for the none-Sharpness light-weapon Morgoth kill, that's going to interesting. If I'm not mistaken, that Dude has very high protection. Or maybe Morgoth does not and I'm wrong? I don't know.

To maximize light-weapon melee power: you'd want the 'Two-Handed Weapon' ability, Rapid Attack, and Riposte (provided that you have *high* Evasion. I don't know what happens if Cruel Blow is combined with these effects, but it would be fun to know.

In situations like this, I like to take BOTH Keen Senses and Inner Light for synergistic defense against darkness. It's very effective against Shadow worm masses.
