In the early levels you will probably want to leave those floating eyes alone, at least in melee range. Early level paralyzers are extremely dangerous without free action. If you have some sort of launcher you can shoot it, or throw a flask of oil at it or something, but otherwise just leave them be.

These things are good learning experiences though. You'll be better prepared next time.
