Ah, it's been years that I've played angband, I always died because of the difference in player power compared to Pern.

Now, after an Ey winner, I think I'm ready for Angband. Angband sucks actually, but I'm a sucker for classics, so why not ? Rods dont stack, no notes, rods waste a turn if you try to zap them while charged, double resistance from fire still has your books getting burned, unique orc is undistinguishable in non-ASCII mode. Of course it's not all bad. Shock wave rules, big time. I am killing basilisks with ease, no res poison. Stunning is so powerfull that I'm amazed such a low level spell gives it to you , at such a cheap cost.

I seem to remember that half orcs suffer from light, not very consistent. Shops refill nicely, very nicely. Stat potions seem to come a nice rate around level 30, uniques come & go, weapons of extra attacks are abundance & shop owners change regularly, it's actually worth it to stock some stuff in the hope for different owners.
