First impressions of class: Probably not balanced for no-pets play. Plays
like a warrior with super low HP who can't fight when out of mana. (Minor
typo: "Maledicter" class title should be "Maledictor".) Low expectations for
future success --- how to handle anything that's not intimidated by a
2d6+10 melee attack? Still, interesting class idea, and deliberately avoiding
spell spoilers --- I'd like to discover the spells myself. Speaking of
discovering, had to find out myself by experiment (3 or 4 trials) that the
Necro's casting stat is INT :)

As for the Rat Things... well, I was trying to play in no-pets mode, so that plan wouldn't have worked very well. In fact I was refraining from casting Summon Bats because I was scared of having Mongbats appear; I decided to wait until I got back to town.

Of course, summoning pets as foes for drops and xp always interests me. You can target a distant location before summoning, but that doesn't always work.

I wasn't aware you could attempt to summon at a distance --- how does that work?

Anyway, I thought the Necro might benefit from some kind of "Spectral Hand" spell that could extend the range of touch spells, possibly while incurring some sort of drawback (though I'm drawing a blank on what that could be). I wouldn't want to completely reverse an intended drawback of the Necro, but it would be good to somehow bring another dimension to gameplay, and the flavor would be really good. I'll see if I can think of a more detailed idea for this.
