Yes, that is a good ability. It also helps a lot for archery oriented characters, and for stealthy ones -- to avoid bumping into unwary orcs in corridors. The ability it leads to, Listen, is really good, though it does require quite an investment in Perception.

It is a shame the notes file isn't working for you as it means we can't see your choice of Abilities (and when you got them). All the more reason to fix that bug.
