This was a comp 104 character, but since played from birth and not good enough (competition ranked by no. of uniques killed) to to bypass my previous attempts I decided to post it here since it my best attempt is in term or raw progress.

Star Sicks had her share of brushes with death, finding the elusive up staircase on more than one occasion with no escapes left and fleeing for her life.

She was burdened with her starting flail for most of the game until, at last, she picked up that backsword on DL13 (hmm, seemed like it was later than that). This worked well for a bit but losing just a single point of STR rendered it unusable. This seemed to happen often with my limited Fay experience and empty monster memory.

It was the loss of PB#2 (containing portal) somewhere in the teen levels that eventually cost Star her life. She returned to town time and time again looking for a copy, but none were available (though #1 and #3 were always). Later the drain of a point of STR (again) aggravated the situation. Of course, no restore STR in town.

Yet Star struggled on, staircase after staircase, fleeing, phasing, fighting and surviving... until DL21.

She dropped into 21 wounded, into an empty room with only one exit. Detecting evil revealed as grouping of about 12 hill orcs and Jenny Greenteeth just to the south. Detecting doors and stairs revealed no other exits. Sense surroundings confirmed Star worst nightmare, she would have to head south, and quickly if she were to have a shot at survival. There was no time to rest.

She thought that maybe she could sprint through the orc filled room before they were aware of her, and drinking that potion of stealth certainly wouldn't have hurt anything, but it was overlooked. She was about halfway through the 80' connecting corridor when she encountered the first orc and his buddies.

She killed him with her cudgel, and another and another but battle was taking its toll and healing potions were running low, as was mana. Then Star saw Jenny wandering in the room beyond. The Star saw her summon something. Star wasn't sure what it was because it was invisible, and Star had no SI. She did what she could to survive from this point on. It seemed hopeless.

I don't recall exact;y what happened next, as a few days have passed, but IIRC the invisible something blinked away, and then a few turns later summoned some more stuff. Star was back to slaying the orcs to the south and one of them dropped some mushrooms of terror which suddenly gave Star a strong serving of hope, as a path to the staircase had already been mapped out.

Star was blinded by this point with no means of curing it. She quickly ate the mushrooms of terror, anticipating fleeing orcs and other things. She tried to move further south after each shroom and was making some progress. I can only assume that there was a traffic jam of fleeing orcs which caused at least one of them to "turn and fight" and deliver the blow that ended Stars quest.
