It seems wounding bolts tend to have very small + to_dam values (most I've seen is +3), which is technically an error in my code but it's ok, because they can't be branded.

I've also noticed that killing the to_dam bonuses makes ego ammo much more likely to appear, both in the dungeon and in stores. I kind of like that.

In that case, simply changing the mechanics to behave the same as multiple blows do now should be enough (with 2 shots/round, perform both shots when its your turn).

You see, shooters have already fewer variables than melee weapons that determine damage (melee have enchantment, weight, base dam, extra blows). If anything, Id like to see the pool increased rather than reduced. If theres only might, everyones endgame shooter will be x5, or say, x7 if lucky - big difference.

Back in my games before the recent randart changes, I rarely found a useful melee artifact, but almost always had a shooter of Bard proportions simply because the game couldnt do much else to them other than increasing might and shots.
