Quickband dragons are a bit more dangerous than in V. I'm not surprised that ancient gold killed you - avoid ancient dragons if you can. I'm a bit surprised the young blue took you down - did it really do 300 HP in one breath? Don't fight young or mature dragons without the appropriate resistance (elec for a blue dragon)...
