For those of you who haven't heard, you should check out the latest creation from the creator of Magic: The Gathering. Card Hunter is a turn-based collectible card game where you control the tactics of a 3 member party running multi-scenario modules reminiscent of the early days of Dungeons & Dragons. The art style should be familiar to those who played D&D back in the seventies and eighties. It is free to play, so doesn't hurt to try it out, with additional premium modules and loot if that interests you. It also has a multiplayer ladder if you want some PvP.

I gave it about 15 minutes last night. Never played a 'card' based game before, but this is fun. With no knowledge of what I was doing, jumped in and plowed through the tutorial. It's all done very well. I'll play again if I can find the time.www.mediafire.com/buzzkill - Get your 32x32 tiles here. UT32 now compatible Ironband and Quickband 9/6/2012.

Hey, thanks for pointing this game out. I just lost an hour to it... it's really quite good so far. I don't know if I will get into the multiplayer or not, but the single player campaign has been enough to hook me.You are on something strangeComment

I tried this last night too. It seems very good. It is a bit annoying that there is all the "pay money to get more loot" stuff, but they claim that you can just ignore that and have a good game experience and that is what I'm trying and it seems to work. I've got my party up to level 4 and am still having fun.
I find it to be a cross between the 'gold box' games, dominion, and roguelikes.Comment

I played the tutorial, but got to the character creation part and bailed, I don't think I have the patience for these anymore. The tongue-in-cheek "hey we're eating chips and playing a pen-and-paper rpg because we're white males with beards" trope generally gets me out of a game in a hurry.
The hybrid gameplay was neat but I'm not sure I got enough of a feel for it from the tutorial. There was a feeling of "my opponent is out of good cards and I'm not, now I get 30 turns in a row" which was a bit weird but I could see being incredibly fun + frustrating in multiplayer -- does this happen often in Magic: The Gathering? I've never played that before and I have no idea of the ruleset or anything.Glaurung, Father of the Dragons says, 'You cannot avoid the ballyhack.'Comment

Looking forward to trying this game - thanks for the link.
(debo: yes, you can run your opponent out of useful cards in MtG, but it's rare when the decks are reasonably well matched.)"Been away so long I hardly knew the place, gee it's good to be back home" - The BeatlesComment

Yeah, I like the art from the battle board and module covers and am more neutral to negative on some of the rest of the nostalgia stuff. I'm enjoying the theme overall though.Comment

I've only barely played the game today, but I did bring home cheetos and coca cola and bought a pizza on the way home from work. They sold me, but on the wrong things... I guess. You are on something strangeComment

There are no movements in MtG combat and it is a duel.
MtG computer game had some tweaked rules like variable life for monsters and you and there was world which you could go around and buy and sell cards, but combats were still duels without movements.Comment

I ve tried it too (thanks for the link) and add my +1 to the annoying rpg talk around the campaign (though one line got me smiling...."pass the soda please - ewww its diet soda - who brought that ?").
It was fun up to now; I am level 10 and hit a hard ceiling. With my current items (deck) the only adventure thats unlocked seems impossible. Half a dozen tries, none of which were even close, and a bunch of lost gold from party revival. The guy who made a youtube vid of this encounter had vastly superior equipment and accordingly no problems. I suppose to go further its either pay for more dungeons and better rewards, to improve equipment, or wait a day and re-grind old dungeons, though the latter seems unlikely to yield enough of an upgrade.
For a trial version it was fun.Comment

Hey Estie, can I bother you for a quick question?
Most of the times the dude told me to buy something with pizza, I sort of just, kept it. I've got like, 120 free pizza. When is the last time that you got "free pizza?". I think my last free pizza was the first special dungeon map, and the new miniatures pizza.
My characters are level 5... and noticed that if you buy mp starter decks, and the free multiplayer deck too,... those items just port straight over to campaign mode... which I thought was surprising. Some good items I'm thinking of sniping.Last edited by HallucinationMushroom; September 20, 2013, 16:54.You are on something strangeComment

Was looking forward to trying this, but after registering it fails to load anything after "checking server status". Tried both firefox and safari.Comment

Quick search suggests it might be adobe flash player. Is it up to date ? Someone with same problem solved it by re-installing flash player.Comment
