    Earliest Morgoth Murking

What is the lowest level you have had after defeating Morgoth?? Any variant. I myself am a Vanilla player, and my personal record is CLVL 50. I've only beat it once. It's flippin hard!

    About CL 45, I think, as a High-Elf Ranger.

My personal best appears to be the latest comp character at 45. The earliest win in Vanilla might be level 41 http://angband.oook.cz/ladder-show.php?id=8072

I think I have about same when I was learning how to dive. Hi-Elf levels slowly. Usually clvl 50 because I'm in no hurry ending the game. Diving gets boring fast.

IIRC it's this L42 Gnome mage back in 2006. Ringil, non-diving (before that at least), and not killing many high-level uniques is what I remember from that.

It's better to burn out than to fade away!

That certainly sounds like a challenge to me!! Can anybody beat Morgoth without hitting level 41!? (I think I am going to give it a shot)

Actually, it could be interesting to have a competition where your character is unable to proceed past, say, character level 35 (or maybe 40). It'd require a special version of the game, but it wouldn't be especially hard to implement. Just modify the add-experience function to clamp experience to no more than some constant.

Or update the experience tables to ridiculous levels.

Or we could implement a rule like "max character level = max dungeon level / 3" or something. You'd still gain experience, but you wouldn't level up until you'd reached an appropriately-deep dungeon level.

Don't remember... 39 or something. But I saw someone in MAngband kill Morgoth at level 26 using a Half troll warrior (just above 600 hps with max CON) and a combo of Heavy Crossbow of Extra Shots + Seeker Bolts of Holy Might. It was a cakewalk too, just to prove that missiles are extremely overpowered in this game. With extremely lucky hp rolls, you probably can kill Morgoth at a lower level. The only prerequisite is enough hps to survive a manastorm and enough speed to avoid double move.
