    iPhone/Pod/OS suggestions?

I recently got an iPod touch, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for games and/or useful applications.

I downloaded Nethack for it, but Nethack is way stranger than Angband, but "100 Rogues" looks pretty neat and is on sale for $1.99 until the end of the year. There's also Settlers of Catan and a Civilization port. Anybody know about those?

I'm also somewhat interested in jailbreaking, since I could install an NES or SNES emulator on it, but I'm pretty ignorant about the process and potential consequences (are there any? "bricking"?). I also don't really know what else I would use the jailbreaking for besides those emulators. I don't need ringtone stuff, since it's not a phone, and I can change the background with the new iOS4.

It'll also be fun to use it to manage fantasy football next season, but I guess we'll have to switch back to Yahoo, since ESPN's app is not free.

I don't have one, but for jailbreaking I think you need to google "blackrain" - that's why my brother uses on his. Yes there is a risk of bricking, I gather.

      Useful apps

      Hi.

I've got an IPhone and the small-version IPad and found a few apps to be useful.
On both devices I like to read pdf-files, best app for this task is GoodReader. There's also a free lite-version available. Best feature is access via ftp. Great!

I love the NASA-App, gives information and pic-of-the-day for free.
For jogging or other sports check runtastic, it records your path via GPS and you can see speed-profile and heigth profile of your track. With the pay-version you can also send your tracks to your friends and run virtually against them. This is cool, you're running and your device tells you if your friend is ahead or behind you. Give it a try.

For fun, check out line art, but maybe it's only cool on a larger display. You can manipulate moving pixels via multitouch. I've got very few games though I found some tower defenses to be fun.

      Bye,

Ooh, tower defenses, fun. Any good free ones or really remarkable cheap ones?

I'll have to check out GoodReader. I had heard of using Stanza and ePub2go.com to convert pdfs to ebooks that you can then copy to your ipod. It was a little sketch on formatting on the one that I tried.
