    Ask the Genie

You've probably already played this or something like it, but The Genie's insight is amazing. He was even able to nail down our hero "@", well almost. He guessed "@ (hethack, hero)", but that's close enough for me.

I like the game 20 questions (aka animal, mineral, vegetable). I think it's one of the most underrated games in existence. So one time as a gift I got a heldheld 20 questions game that asked the questions and guessed the answer. Which kindof defeats the purpose of 20 questions. The main fun of 20 questions is: a) spending time with a friend/family member and b) stumping said person. One of the best things about the game is that you don't need any equipment at all to play, nothing to buy, nothing to carry. So I promptly gave away the handheld game, having no interest in it, even though I like the 20 questions game.
Something like that genie game is kindof fun to play once or twice. It guessed what I was thinking (the winged monkeys from the Wizard of OZ) after about 12 questions (I didn't count).

EDIt: played it twice more. It guessed the itsy bitsy spider from the nursery rhyme, but I stumped it with the main character from a book by E.Nesbit.

I had to write a 20-questions game in Prolog in my first programming course in college. Every time it got stumped, it would ask for the answer and a question that would differentiate the answer from the other items in its database. I kinda wonder if this website is an extension of a similar assignment...

I like it, not so much because 20 questions is such an entertaining game, but because this "genie" can guess the most obscure characters, even when you provide him with sometimes questionable answers. When I do manage to stump it, which isn't often, even when reacking my brain for some little known 3rd string nobody, I feel the failure is my more often own for not providing accurate answers to the genie's questions.

That's pretty cool. It took almost 30 questions for it to get Andrew Jackson, but other than that it's been right on.

Sweet! 24 questions to get Elwood Blues. Fairly impressive.

I stumped it with Irving, Abel's pet baby gargoyle from the Sandman comics.

Also stumped by Igoo the Rock Ape from the Herculoids.
