I'm an old fan of Umoria, I know the maintainer is David J. Grabiner, yet it seems like he has done nothing with the game in forever. It seems like Moria is basically starting to disappear. I would like to see the game updated with some of the newer patches we have in Angband, better stores, monster Ai, and birth options. It sad to see a game that helped start it all dissapear, the only game that I have seen that is a remake of it is called Mines of Morgoth, that is in development, but not sure how close it resembles original moria, the tiles look a lot like ones we already use in Angband.
Umoria is it dead?

I think a much easier project would be to take the vanilla code, and create the UMoria monster, object and the other edit files, and then adjust the Vanilla code to the Moria gameplay. I think you could get something pretty close to UMoria without having to make too many major modifications to Vanilla Angband code. Object generation would need a major overhaul, the old Moria speed system would have to be implemented, dungeon generation would have to eliminate things like the vaults, pits, and nests, but much of the code would not have to be changed at all. It would give Moria 17 years worth of code improvements.
It would be a fun project, if I had the time. Maybe NPPmoria could happen sometime in the distant future.NPPAngband current home page: http://nppangband.bitshepherd.net/

you know there was a version of Moria I had, way back when, i think it may have been buggy, but there was no limit to dungeon depth, I went all the way down to ten thousand feet, then it kept going yet the dungeon depth was listed in the negatives. I think I finally retired my character after travelling down to negative 25000 feet. I really liked this, the fun part was seeing how far down you could go. There was no end to the dungeon depth, you could go on foreverComment
