I can take the blame for this. Much of the effort that was going into v4 got distracted into Pyrel, which was doing much of what v4 was doing, only moreso. Then my job duties picked up significantly, which left me with less energy when not at work to work on Pyrel, which in turn meant that others stopped working on Pyrel too -- you need at least one active developer for a project to live. And there's little impetus to return to work on v4, now, since it'd be repeating work that was done in Pyrel.
