I'm not sure if this was pure luck, or maybe the source code (Z+ 033 beta) had some provisions for it.
On level 65 I obtained Stormbringer really easily after two ents beat up the Stormbringer really badly.
After uncursing it in the town, the first major monster I encountered was, guess what, a Greater Titan...
It was still a prolonged battle because he kept healing himself, and I had to try it twice [first as lev 35, then as lev 36], but I eventually wear him down.
