    PCB: No Manes arrive

Hi, my current character is a dwarf priest whose main realm is Daemon.

Every time I type the "Summon Manes" spell it either fails (which is fine) or says "No Manes arrive".

    I am currently CL17 on DL13.
Have I just been crazy unlucky? Or is there some restriction which says this spell cannot work for priests?

See how your alignment is good? That'll interfere with evil summons.

Why is my alignment good? Race? Or something else?

(It seems I can no longer disable the virtue stuff which I don't get. Just seems to add noise to the messages which makes things more confusing).

Edit: I searched the help files, and there is no info on alignment (other than how it affects spell failure), and nothing at all on virtues.

Edit: So not race. I dominated a tengu and alignment changed to Neutral. Then I started cast hellish flame on a few jellies (about 6 casts from 12 attempts - I had not been using it due to failure rate and mana cost) and now my alignment is neutral evil). So alignment is definitely fickle. But hey, I can summon manes now. Guess I had been relying on the nature spells (my 2nd realm) too much.

Edit: And now I'm back to good again. Used no nature spells. Is it just because I'm killing evil stuff? I clear dungeons - so that'd be annoying. Is the reason I've not hit this before because I used to disable the virtue stuff back in earlier versions? Kind of sucks, defeats the whole purpose of the daemon spells.

If you make a point of using your demon spells more you'll become more evil. Nature prefers neutral-aligned casters.

My death/nature priest was good for a while, that sucked.

Disabling virtues will be reimplemented in FrogComposband, I'm hoping to get the first release out in a couple weeks.
The Complainer worries about the lack of activity here these days.

Cam you outline the general direction of your fork?

Also, will you have executables for win (etc)?

Because screwing virtues sounds like a great thing.

For the first releases (the short-term) the emphasis will be on adding new content (and restoring some deleted content, like the no-virtues option or the GHB's custom drop), on balancing existing content and on fixing bugs. There will likely be a precompiled Windows executable, not sure about executables for Linux or other operating systems since I only have Windows and can compile for it more easily.

I have no idea where FrogComposband will go in the longer-term; it will depend on how much time and energy I have for it, and also on where ComPosband goes. It could be effectively merged back into ComPosband as Gwarl incorporates changes from it (and/or I lose interest); or it and ComPosband could take off in totally different directions; or it and ComPosband could develop together and cross-pollinate each other; or I might start working more on Frogspawn (my unpublished Vanilla fork) again, and then as I added more stuff to the Vanilla fork, some of it would spill over to new versions of FrogComposband (as has already happened; FrogComposband is so called because it's ComPosband with Frogspawn content). Or somebody else might fork FrogComposband and take it to exciting new places!

And the direction will depend, of course, on what kind of feedback - and ideas - I get from players.

Any chance this would include elli stuff (like improved easy_ID)?

Improving easy_id has not been on my to-do list, but there's no reason why I couldn't put it there. It won't be in the first release, though.

(An option to use non-fuzzy telepathy will be in the first release, so be thankful for that )
