    [pcb4] Hidden changes

I've been going through some code for Poschengband4 and noticed that there are many hidden (and awesome) changes. Some minor, some major, many change the way you would play a character (or at least they give you new options).

    For example:

    a. Angels (monster race) can now benefit from easy spell and reduced mana cost if they wear the Stone of Life or Stone of Crusade. This make it much easier to play them as casters, even more so with the advent of clarity rods.

    b. Egos such as crown/amulet of magi, ring of wizardry add to spell damage directly.

    c. Life rating no longer multiplies the entirety of base health, just 255 out of 555 (well, it never exactly multiplied but the end result was as if it did).

Any other significant yet not obvious changes?

Edit: Or maybe I'm mistaken and they were already there in pcb35...

A small change: My ent keeps finding water but I haven't seen a single food ration.

        Ents sustain themselves on Water.

Those aren't really hidden all that much but I'll say that telepathy is a nice touch.

Skipping permanent telepathy on my slinger.

I'll add the magic resistance thing here since I think it's important:
          - magic resistance no longer applies to (innate) breath attacks.

Edit: I think something bad happened to item gambling. In pcb35 I could reliably get a staff of healing or two for 1M gold. Now I spent over 2M and nothing. From what I can see, high lvl devices are significantly harder to get.

So does that mean that the "Ring of Wizardry (+0, +8)" I just found does an extra 8 damage from all spells? Does this include spells cast with wands/rods? Also What would the +0 add to if it was non-zero?

I also found a ring of wizardry and was very curious about it , this is what I learned from PosCheng's source:
                1) Yes, it adds damage to spells you cast
                2) It does nothing for devices
                3) If +0 were non-zero, it would do nothing, only +damage (+8 in your example) has any effect

I haven't spent a lot of time reading the code, and I'm not familiar with the codebase, so take it with a grain of salt

I've been playing PosChengband 4.0.1 for a quite a while since its release. I haven't seen [monster] "ticked off" messages nowadays. Or maybe, it's just me?

You can always browse the commit history on github ... I'm trying to get better about a single change per commit, though sometimes a single change will span multiple commits.

Also, merging develop onto master always seems to generate a uber diff of changes.

Of course, this requires reading source. A plain text change list is just a bit too tedious for me to maintain at the moment

The message was removed as part of my ongoing war on message spam (aka, slaying the evil -more- prompt).

The mechanic also changed. Distance attacks anger monsters by incrementing a counter (rather than switching on a bit). Each point of angriness increases the spell frequency a small amount, and the counter resets to zero once the monster finally unleashes a retaliatory spell.

Some hidden changes based on players' current PosChengband 5.0.x characters (especially 5.0.3):
                        1) Anti-Summon Amulets -- since when did we have these??
                        2) "Legendary [x]" skill level re-named to "Amber [x]" -- probably since 5.0.3
                        3) Asleep wilderness monsters in LOS won't prevent you from fleeing to World Map??

Any others you've noticed in 5.0.x?

[Sm amulets have been in the game for a while. They are/were just obscenely rare.

This was the case in Hengband, it is not a Poschengband change.

In any case, I like how Chris reverted this back to 'Amber [x]'
