    Serpent Tactics

So I managed to get to Angband99 and kill Oberon without too many issues after getting a character past cLvl20.
The problem I have is that Oberon was only easy because I was able to use my class feature (spider-webs) to abuse line of sight.

Since this is my first game of PosChengband (not counting the 20 or so attempts that died around clvl20) and thus also my first attempt at the serpent I checked out the data files and it looks like LoS-abuse it out of the question for the final fight which has me a bit worried.

I've got all resists except for shards and time covered , 935HP and +27 speed unbuffed but most likely don't have enough life and *healing* pots.
Here is my current char dump: http://pastebin.com/WThS8Y6P

Any help with strategies on how to beat the serpent is much appreciated as well as suggestions on what to add to my current kit for the final boss fight.

Serpent is very likely to summon so you have to take that into account.

    So what's dangerous:
    - no shards res, serpent summons cyberdemons,
    - no sustains, afair serpent kills stats on hit, 12 restoring might be enough, might not be
    - so so speed (it looks ok until you get slowed), I think you can easily drop one of those combat rings and pop another speed,
    - no double resists on elements, that is always dangerous.

Forget !curing, you might risk using it and regret not !healing over your tombstone.

I think you should reforge that Dragon Helm and go from there.

I'm honestly not sure how he interacts with webs. Do tell after the fight.

exo, you should post your chardump onto the main ladder for more feedback as well
My best try at PosChengband 7.0.0's nightmare-mode on Angband.live:

If I'm offline I'm probably in the middle of maintaining Gentoo or something-Linux or other.

I'm not sure if my damage is high enough which is why I didn't equip the other RoS I have at home but I guess speed>damage just for safety is the better option.

Guess I can hover around dLvl99 to try and find a better amulet.
The one I'm currently wearing sadly was my artifact reforge.
I was struggling to get rLight and rChaos so I was hoping to get them both on an amulet around cLvl40. Unaware of how reforging should be used I just ended up forging an artifact with those resistances onto a blank amulet giving me the crappy amulet I have right now.

Capping/Overcapping my resists is probably the biggest issue right now next to finding more potions of life and not having a clue about how to approach the fight.

Also to answer the question about webs: he simply destroys them like normal walls, atleast thats what other uniques with the kill_wall flag do. No idea if there is anything special about it though.

I might post my chardump on the ladder but I'm not sure if that will get more input than a forum post tbh.

P.S.: Actually forgot that !Healing acts like !Curing for status ailments so !Curing is no longer part of my kit

imo, posting your chardump makes your character more noticeable and easily accessible to see. I say this in case those on work computers can access angband.oook.cz, but not pastebin for whatever reason.

Wait but more speed = more damage. So while your hits will do less dmg per attack, you'll hit more often. Overall dps loss (if any) is likely small.
