(reposband) The sadness of too-good items.

In my recent play of a Balrog in RePosBand, I found this pretty early on:

    Code:
    g) Power Dragon Scale Mail of Permanence [60,+30]
Dropped by a Young gold dragon at 1850 feet (level 37).

Provides resistance to acid, lightning, fire, cold, poison, light,
dark, sound, shards, nether, chaos, disenchantment.
         Provides protection from confusion.
Cannot be harmed by acid, electricity, fire, cold.
Sustains strength, intelligence, wisdom, dexterity, constitution,
         charisma.
         Sustains your life force.
This was an upgrade to something like Studded Leather of Resist Cold. I basically never found any other body-armor interesting for the rest of the game.

I suppose in a normal game, I could still care about things like stats, but balrogs have such silly-high stats anyway. Basically all that mattered from this point higher-damage weapons and immunities (I collected all four).

Kind of took the fun out of upgrades. Next time I find something this good, I might be tempted to just retire that character at that point.

    Personal experiences?
