    [Furyband] Tiles issue

    Hello!

I was wondering if there was anyway to fix the new-tiles in the latest versions of furyband? What with potions looking like scrolls, masks not working correctly, etc?

Or if I'm just using it wrong? I know version 5.0 worked for me. :-/

So it seems that between beta 4 and beta 5, the New-Tile mode got broken.

:-/ As this an old variant, I doubt it'll get fixed.

There is a beta that doesn't have the tilebreak. But the forum went down and it is forever lost in the sands of time.

I actually have Furyband 5.0 Gold Edition and can send it to you if you'd like. I also have Zop's Furyband, which was an actual hard-coded variant on Furyband. It might fix your problem. PM me and let me know how I can get them to you.

Also, my girlfriend suggests the Wayback Machine (https://archive.org/web/) for reading old extinct forums. Nerdy girlfriends ROCK!

Am I remembering wrong or was there a version just prior to The Fury releasing the 5.0 Gold that actually worked better than 5.0 Gold?

The newest version is here, and here is the mod for Zop's Furyband. Just extract it to the /lib/mods/ subdirectory of Furyband and it should work.

And since the download of Zop's Furyband mod seems broken, here are Dropbox links to both of them.

How does one install the Zop mod?

I tried dragging it into Lib but it just corrupted everything.

edit: never mind, I found it. If anyone has the same problem as me, drag the the zop folder into the mod folder in the furyband lib

another edit: the ascii tiles on this version are still screwy. Is there any way to fix this? I remember playing a version that wasn't like this.

There is a folder named "mod" in your lib directory. Drag the module in there and it will work.

Yeah, I ended up finding that out.

But the ascii tiles are still broken.

I'm going to scrounge around for the newest beta, I know it's around somewhere.

                  EDIT: Haha, found it!

No broken tiles or any other nonsense.

I found this thread when I was trying to find out why furytech went down. Not that there had been action there for years, admittedly.

I have never used tiles, so this might be an interesting bug to fix, if anyone's interested. I also see I should update the zopmod link, but it requires Furyband, which isn't hosted anywhere officially. Fileplanet says they have it, but I don't know why or if it's 100% legit. oook still has a ladder for it, so perhaps we should somehow get it together in a more official way. I don't have Fury's email else I'd contact him.

                          Here you go.

I wasn't able to see a problem with ascii tiles or otherwise with the download, until I found a certain order of preference changes that messed up the display: From ascii-tile mode, turn on either new/old tiles, then turn on bigtile mode, then switch back to ascii, then disable bigtile mode. At this point, I was able to get serious graphical problems with Zop's mod, but not the base Furyband. The bizarre display option helped, but not enough to play.

I did some troubleshooting, like copying all the edit files onto the Furyband base (still no problem), and ended up finding a file in lib\mods\zopfb\pref called font-win.prf that is causing the issue. In fact, it was just the first setting, made of two lines:

                              # open floor
                              F:1:0x01/0x1F

Deleting these lines from the .prf file prevented the issue from reappearing. I believe the file is made by custom colors I assigned to walls to distinguish them long ago. (It's actually not the / symbol causing the problem, but 0x1F refers to a symbol that doesn't have a character. The "correct" code for period should be 0x2E).

I hope this is causing the problem for others, so try fixing it by deleting the lines or editing the code to 0x2E and let me know.
