[Poschengband] Advice for DL40 demigod perk choice

I've been playing this character for a billion years: http://angband.oook.cz/ladder-show.php?id=16183

It's about to hit DL40 and I'm seriously considering Fast Learner (far too late) because getting to CL50 is going to be a nightmare. However, I'm sort of willing to grind forever if it gives me a leg-up in the endgame.

I had decent melee before my stats got scrambled, so once i get Dex up a smidge I'm sure I'll be able to rekit as a warrior again if it's a good idea. My current magey strategy is "put up molds if I'm swarmed and spam starburst until everything dies". If I run out of mana, I teleport and then clear mind / cure wounds until I'm back up to full.

I've got some good weapons in the bank, though, and it seems a shame to let them go to waste!

I was wondering if Infernal Deal might be the best choice, since it regains both HP and SP and I can use both depending on the situation. I'm not really familiar with how all the other ones worked; when I was presented with my first perk choice, I basically sourcedived each of them trying to figure out what they do.

I wouldn't do Fast Learner at this point.

Infernal Deal is OK, but works better in the early game when you are swarmed with weak monsters. In the end game, there are many fewer monsters, so the effects won't be as good. It does combo nicely with summoner classes though. I'm not sure if your Grow Mold power will allow exploits or not (If you only get Death Molds, then no).

With Clear Mind and Cure Wounds, I would personally take Fleet of Foot. Dig long anti-summoning corridors when you fight, and your superior foot speed will allow you to quickly back up out of line of sight and regain a bit.

Other good choices are Demonic Grasp (You can use staves of healing the entire game) and Evasion. Perhaps even Weird Mind to protect your innate mutations from eldritch overrun.

Word of Caution: I don't know if you've used a !NewLife yet, but these scramble your powers and reroll your mutations. You may want to do this. You may not. But know that this is coming if you quaff one!

Yeah I saw the code for new life, thanks. I haven't done it yet, and am not sure I ever will -- my life rating is an even 100, which isn't great, but I sort of have a playstyle that's working right now. If I get to CL50 and all my high-level powers suck, I might think about it. Grow Mold and Starburst are a pretty great combo though.

If I could get some sort of targeted mind attack that doesn't hit targets in its path and doesn't splash... Grow Mold + that would be super great

      Thanks for the advice!
