Probably they plopped into water or hid in a grass. A clumsy thing, anyway --- the objects are all generated in mid-air before the first turn and you just caught them falling on the ground the first turn...

    Another very minor one -

Upon entering the bottom level of the Woodsman Village dungeon, a list of 11 things "disappears from view" came onscreen, as if the game had generated the objects and dropped them into the grass as my character appeared on the stairs. Not sure whether that was supposed to be visible or not - that's the first time I've seen something like that. There had been no combat yet, no traps that went off, nothing.

    Will do!

    A few more -

On the self-knowledge screen, it said that my character was afflicted with paranoia caused by minor ailments. I tried a Mushroom of Cure Paranoia and it didn't cure the disease. Maybe those aren't supposed to cure the disease type of paranoia. If so, then it's a bit confusing - maybe the disease type could be renamed to differentiate it?

Scrying spells such as Sense Magic seem a little untidy in that they will list as choices some items that have already been identified, or mushroom patch spores (which don't get identified).

Description for Path through Misty Mountains - missing a letter and a couple spaces - should be:
The High Pass over Misty Mountains is said to be the easiest road east to Mirkwood and further towards Smaug's lair. Easiest does not mean easy. It is too steep and too high to be even attempted when fresh snow falls and in other times goblins set traps for adventurers entering the wild. After a long walk up the pass, you are exhausted, but fortunately, you find an entrance '>' to a cave...

It's OK (though not documented (well enough), unfortunately). You are specialized in Wizardry School and the book is from the Druidic School. However, most (all?) of the spells can be found in other books as well.

    Fixed in SVN.

I hit 'x' ('l') to look at it:
You see a pile of 2 objects [r,q,p,o,a,g,+,-,.,?,<dir>]
Then I hit 'r' to recall, and it offers me a list of the objects:
    a} a Black ogre Corpse
b} a Jade Ring of Resist Cold

    If I choose A:
    Target Selected.
If I choose B it moves to another object further on.

You mentioned that we can't examine from afar, but normally, I can use the above method to call up a description for any object on my screen (except for one in a pile, apparently). For this one, my character was standing adjacent to the pile.
Oh, you are right, indeed. However, I want to steal the targetting code from V, and in V you can't examine from afar even single objects (just verified). If you feel this is important, please file a Feature Request for V and if takkaria agrees, I can code that in V (I have the V SVN account already). Then when we steal the V code, it'll be as you desire.

Yes, it's definitely broken. I cannot browse the rune when in inventory, but I can when it's on the floor. I get different spells from the Flame rune depending if on the floor or not... I'll report that. I'm tempted to disable casting from runes until they are fixed. Without macros, spell from runes are quite unwieldy, anyway, even when you have the bags so that inventory space is not a problem.

Not on my wizard (that's the char that had the crash) but several on my Istari (Blood, Frost, Summoning, Wave) and none cause a crash.

When I look at them to check for spells, though, it won't let me look at the Summoning rune stone - it doesn't appear as an option like the others do, and when I type the inventory letter for it anyway, I just get the usual error ding. That's what confused me about learning spells from runes in the first place - there were at least a couple before that one that didn't appear on the list to look at spells.

Is it possible that the crash could be related to class? I wouldn't think so. So either it's just that Flame rune stone, or just some random weirdness that won't happen again. Who knows? After all, computers are fickle and mysterious things. I'll keep my eyes peeled for that stone and see if it recurs.

Thank you, fixed. And for Cure Stun.

Added to the report. I also disabled the message unless cheat_xtra is set. We have enough reports for this one; especially with yours savefile. Now let's hope somebody is summoned by someone to fix it.

Thank you. Will fix. Edit: can't reproduce. Did you have any other runestones on you? I get just one spell "Fire Ball" with that single rune in inventory...

You know they target any place that you target? If you don't target anything, probably the target point is by default on you. That is explained in the help note about battles. I guess you receive it _after_ your first battle is over. If so, that is the (documentation) bug. But, of course, the battle AI can be improved if you understand it and have ideas...

Thanks a lot. Will fix. Edit: Won't fix because I cannot reproduce it with the savefile. Even valgrind is silent. Could you please wait for beta2 (should be out real_soon_now) and check again? Perhaps the bug is fixed, by chance. If not, it may be architecture-specific, which would be very bad...

A good idea. Is "floors" or "stories" more ancient sounding? Or anything else?
