    Nope, "ogre" has a lot less baggage than "orc" does. "Orc" is for most people explicitly the monster from Tolkein (or one of its derivatives like the Warcraft orc or the WH40k orc). They're biggish, green, muscular brutes. "Ogre" in contrast is a semi-generic term for "humanoid monster". They can be big or small, stupid or smart, pretty or ugly. There's all kinds of weird ogres out there, especially if you're also accepting things like Japanese oni.

    "Troll" is similarly varied -- the Scandinavian troll is very different from, say, an ettin.

      I'd like to have half-dwarfs. Half-dwarf sounds stupid, so let's call them Mountain Men, shall we? Hunted by the purity-obsessed Skultgard lords, most of them are probably on the side of the heroes.

      Mountain Man reminds me of 1800s American history, I like the Mountain Men of the Wild West... I think I can make them something more than a boring half-race. No real ideas yet, though.
