Steamband gun kata - help?

Anyone gotten this to work? I'm still running a char from the previous comp and he's rifle-based; sems as though whatever gun kata does would be good, but I always get 'not enough ammo' even when I have vast amounts. Help welcome..

A quick source dive indicates that one needs 24 shots in order to use gun kata successfully. It appears to fire three shots in each direction.

It can't be that number of *bullets* because I have those. Maybe I need to have a bunch of guns that together hold 24?

I am pretty sure you need to have at least 24 bullets in the LOADEDGUN slot of your inventory. I am also pretty sure that the game provides no way to achieve that. The Steamband mailing list seems to confirm that the gun kata skill is broken in the current release, thanks to a revamping of gun combat.

Anyone know if steamband is still being maintained? Played it a bit & it looks interesting. Unfortunately there seems a lot that was only part finished.

The maintainer, Courtney Campbell, does come back to the game every now and then. Your best bet is probably to join the Yahoo Steamband group, as occasionally discussion flares up there. It is mostly spam, unfortunately.

If the game is partly broken now, it's going to be mostly broken by the time ewan is finished with it...

I wouldn't call Steamband broken, but nor would I hold out hope for any major update. It's certainly playable start to end in it's current condition.
