    NPP quest system

Are the rewards for completing quests in NPP based on some system? I have been doing the quests and tried several games. I get: money, stat gain, maybe a health gain, then equipment every time after that. I read in the notes that sometimes you can get a tailored artifact, or a speed boost. Do these happen randomly, or is my reputation not good enough yet? Excellent is the highest I have had a rep get before dying.

That sound typical of my experiences. I've come to the conclusion the game is harder, but has better balance, with quests turned off.

There are two big factors: your reputation, and the type of quest you take. You are more likely to get a better quest reward for the most risky quests (vault quests, level quests), followed by pit/nest quests, and monster and buardian quests offer the least chance of great rewards.

Currently, I think the easiest way to win NPP is through the quest system by taking all possible quests; take the pit/next quest as soon as it is offered; same with the level quests. If you survive, your character gets ahead of the curve in terms of character level level vs quest depth and has an easy time completing future level quests. Keep doing quests all the way down to around '2500, by which time you are usually strong enough to dive to the bottom and finish the game. It can get a little tedious at times, but it is kind of an easy win.

There are alot of things I have wanted to do with quests for a long time. I have been holding off on them because they will be much easier to implement in NPP 060 when I break savefile compatibility (in a couple weeks when 054 is finalized).
There have been many feature requests for, when an object is the reward, to offer a selection of items for the player to choose from. I think I am also going to give the player the option to defer the reward in order to get a better reward when completing future quests. And I also hope to re-work how fame works a little bit so it is a little more fairly distributed.

Those sound like good changes. I like the idea of accruing some type of Fame or Reputation points to spend at the store. I know at this point, my lvl 37 mage would LOVE to purchase a permanent speed (even if only +1), as I have only found one item that gives a speed boost all game so far, and it is only +1.
