    problems with graphics- various builds

I have a problem reading buzzkills and shockbolts tiles. This is in V4, Vanilla, and NPP. When I try to change to those tiles, the game says "Unable to open 32x32.png" or 64x64.png. Any suggestions? Is this a common problem or is it my lousy computer and buggy Windows XP?

    Thanks,
    Fred

Can you open them in a viewer? if so, we can exclude the files are corrupted.

Then, you could try as Ekolis suggests in

To fix this issue, all that was necessary was to open the affected image files in Paint, and save them again. (Or maybe it was open them in GIMP/Photoshop/Paint.NET and save in OS/2 format?) Of course, this was with BMP files, not PNG, but it might be worth a try, opening the tileset in Paint and saving it again...

edit: say, another idea - did you put the game in Program Files or Program Files (x86)? Try putting it somewhere else... or maybe the file got "blocked"? Right click the file and do "properties", then on one of the tabs (I forget which) there might be something that says "This file came from another computer and was blocked for your security". Click the "unblock" button if you see that!
    hope this helps!

Hmm. I can open them in paint or whatever.
I noticed that the game says it cannot read the bitmap file "32x32.bmp", but the tileset file is .png. I wonder if this is causing problems? I tried saving it as a bmp file, but to no avail.

NPP still uses 32x32.bmp, not .png. He has a tileset that works fine, the link is in his autosignature.

I am just about to release NPP 0.5.4 with a complete 32x32 tileset (sometime this week). It will definitely work then.

          Thanks!
I've downloaded the files and i'll try again tomorrow.

"It will definitely work then." famous last words...

In my buggy system, if I open up an internet browser or internal email system then close it, V4 can no longer use the shockbolt tiles. I have to reboot. Pain.

Got the same problem when compiling my variant. The function that loads the tiles from the PNG files complains that a few lines are not correct. To be able to use the tilesets I had to remove the check and recompile.
