    Quickband 2.0.2

    Hi all

Quickband 2.0.2 is out - source and windows binary available on oook.

The game is better balanced now.

There are two new classes, Barbarian and Berserker:

    Code:
    [B]Barbarian[/B]

A Barbarian is a wild man of the mountains. He is crafty, and a good warrior.
When he fights in melee, he becomes enraged. The higher his rage, the more
his speed increases. He can also spend rage for various useful abilities.
The Barbarian's main disadvantage is that he is illiterate and cannot use any
scrolls. He also does not know how to zap a wand. However, he can get by
using town services and certain special abilities.
His primary stats are Strength, Dexterity and Constitution.
    He is native to forest.

    [B]Berserker[/B]

A Berserker is a feared warrior who becomes frenzied in battle. He gains rage
much faster than the Barbarian, and is stronger in melee combat. He is
immune to fear. On the other hand, he is illiterate like the Barbarian, and he
does not know how to use wands _or_ staffs. He also aggravates monsters,
who will come from a long way off to fight him.
His primary stats are Strength, Dexterity and Constitution.
    He is native to ice.
I have also implemented some mild protection against stair scumming. If you go down stairs and almost immediately come back up, then occasionally the stairs may disappear ("the stairs cave in behind you"). Will be interested to see how this plays.

    Enjoy!

Barbarians are pretty cool, but it takes awhile to get 2 rage that you need for Climbing. OTOH it's WOR without delay, so it can be good to just slaughter something on the stairs and then come back up if something happens. It also (ironically) involves tactics and field control more than anyone else, except druids. BTW, any chance of druids getting forest native? And what does Natural Escape do anyways?

Yes the Barbarian cannot always get 2 rage when he wants it. You can always swap to the Berserker if you want to get a bit more ragey!

And yes there is a bit of tactics involved, kiting in particular.

I suspect druids get forest native as a spell at some point. Don't know about natural escape but someone else is bound to...

I have a new class on the way for 2.0.3.

            Code:
A Sage is the most learned of the classes. He can cast mage,
priest or druid spells. His intelligence decides how many
spells he has and what his failure rates are, but his
wisdom decides how many SP he has.
His failure rates cannot drop below 5%; also, he cannot use
edged weapons (like a priest) or gauntlets (like a mage).
He is even weaker in combat than a druid.
Will be interesting I think, he will face some choices about what books to carry and what spells to learn.
