    Unangband - Traps

Are traps broken? Torches say they'll burn targets when set in traps, but the "shaft of light" traps I set with them don't ever seem to fire. Dart traps seem to choose random directions when I set them. I've killed myself already a fair few times by setting a dart trap and specifying, say, west, at the "direction?" prompt and then walking east and having the trap fire at me. Frustrating.

They only fire in perma-lit regions: either daylight or rooms lit by light spells (or which you find lit). This doesn't seem terribly intuitive, so in the next version it'll include any light source including player light.

Ah. That qualifies as a bug. You can apply a workaround though: remove the RANDOM flag from the N:4 entry in region.txt. I'll have to think about the real fix a little bit more as I still want the darts to target random grids in the area of effect.

Thanks for the info and workaround, Andrew. I'll try to refrain from using the rigged spring-loaded traps too much; don't want to get too used to relying on their overpowered accuracy.

When trying to set traps using mushrooms (i.e. a mushroom of poison) I get the message "You have armed the gas trap" and lose the mushroom, but no gas trap appears. Walking over the tile myself or luring a critter over tile doesn't set off any traps. Seems to just be causing me to lose my mushroom.
